Dr. Diane LU

Specialist in Neurology

BVetMed, MVM, Dip. ECVN, CVA
HK registered & EBVS®
European Specialist In Veterinary Neurology

I am a full-time neurologist in CityU VMC, which is the former Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic (PAVC). Prior to returning to Hong Kong (my homeland) and joining PAVC in 2003, I received neurology training in the UK: this included a postgraduate study in Glasgow Veterinary School, a 3-year residency program and 1-year Staff Clinician in Veterinary Neurology at the Royal Veterinary College Queen Mother Hospital in London. I was awarded the Diplomate in European College of Veterinary Neurology in 2004.

My main interest in Veterinary Neurology is advanced neuroimaging including MRI and CT investigation of CNS diseases, treatment of CNS diseases such as meningoencephalitis of unknown etiology (MUE) which is very common in Hong Kong, brain tumours and spinal surgery. I enjoy performing routine (e.g. intervertebral disc herniation, IVDH) and challenging spinal surgeries (such as atlantoaxial subluxation and spinal fracture repairs) as one of my mission is to relieve spinal pain and help paralyzed animals to walk again, putting smiley faces back on patients and owners.

Every neurological case is unique in its own ways. I am obliged to educate the owners and give advice with different treatment options for their beloved companion pets suffering from neurological diseases. I felt extremely blessed, by the grace of God, to work with a team of passionate veterinary assistants and diagnostic imaging technicians who are dedicated in neurology. From August 2015-2019 I provided residency training to Dr. Shanshan Guo. The Neurology team is looking forward to help more patients in need and to restore the crucial human-animal bond.
